About Me

Having tutored in New York City, the surrounding area, and online for more than twenty years, Nick prides himself on winning the trust of his students and then guiding them, through that trust, towards greater understanding. Coming from a family of teachers, Nick has always instinctively recognized what a student needs to learn: a comfortable environment of mutual respect combined with hard work and proper guidance.

Being a good tutor is not just knowing the material. While Nick has certainly mastered that, having taught the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, and various school subjects to countless students with great success, he also believes that his broad educational background helps relate to a wide variety of different kinds of students. Having pursued high-level math and science in high school, Nick changed gears and became an English major at Princeton University so that his writing skills would be just good as his mathematics. After college, Nick taught English as a second language at Chiang Mai University in Thailand in an effort to expand his cultural horizons as well as investigate linguistics. After that, Nick went to graduate school at NYU where he received a master’s in filmmaking, putting his creativity to work.

Nick continues to work as a filmmaker—his most notable achievement thus far being his assistant directing of the Oscar-winning short God of Love—and has also taught film at the high school and college level. Combining his creative spirit with his academic rigor, Nick can relate both to the student who loves multiple-choice and the student who would rather be drawing his or her answer. He always brings a sense of humor and play to his tutoring sessions to try and offset the sometimes grueling nature of the exams.

Nick loves learning and continues to learn with every student. He looks forward to helping your son or daughter realize his or her potential.
